Anyways, yesterday I attended the "License to Grill" dinner at the rooftop of Bangsar Village 2. First of all, the setup was nice. On the rooftop of BV2, there was actually quite a nice view. The deco on the rooftop was pretty impressive. I picked Abu, Chuen & Karen. We got there at around 7.15pm. Rams and Felicia were already there. All the diners were given (upon request) a glass of free wine. The free glass of wine is actually for sampling so that you can buy a bottle for dinner if you wanted to. The good thing was that they had free flow beer for the night. The bad thig is that I have decided not do drink any alcohol at all as I had just recovered from feeling like a piece of shit. As tempting as the beer was... I stood my ground (*give self pat on back).
The dinner was suppose to start at 7.30pm but as our former Prime Minister had not arrived yet, so the guest had to wait. We waited till about 8 ish. The organizing staff were pretty good lar. They came over, table by table apologizing for the delay. I'm sure the guess understand that it's not their fault. Sometimes, I really don't get these VVIPs. Previously, I attended a dinner at KLCCC. The whole hall was full with people. Everyone who was invited had already arrived, all except the VVIP. He's the Minister for Entrepeneurship. When he arrived, the MC ask the crowd to stand up and give him a warm welcome. I sat at my chair and didn't move a muscle. First of all, he is one ugly muthafucka. He looks like a petani wearing a suit. Second of all, he was fucking late and you expect me to stand up and clap for him? The only muscles I would move would be my leg muscles to walk to him, and my mouth muscles to spit in his face. Katooi..... What a fucking joke. Er minister dude... get a make-over and go learn English.
Anyways, the organizers must have felt bad that we were all sitting there waiting for so long. In the end, they decide to proceed without waiting for the VVIP. RM160 bucks per person is not cheap. Kinda expected more. All we had was a buffet dinner. We had to line up to grab the food and scour back to our table. There was very little variety as well. Potatoes, Chicken, Lamb, Beef, and Salad. The worst part was, it wasn't even cooked by Robert Rainford. His machai cooked all the food. So basically, there was nothing to shout about lar.
At 8.30, Badawi arrives. At least the organizers did not make a big HuHa about his arrival lar. He arrived and walked to his table. Most of the crowd did not bother with him at all. You know Malaysians lar, when there is food, everyone just eats and becomes oblivious to everything. 15 mins after Badawi's arrival, Robert Rainford makes his appearance. He actually walks to every table greeting and talking to people as well as take photographs. I must say, the fella damn kau power layan people. There were quite a number of people but he always manages to be cheerful and friendly. We took some photos when he came over.
So.. That's Karen, Wuen, Chef Robert Rainford, Me and Chuen. Chuen I would say would be the biggest fan. When we watch the show "License to Grill", Chuen will always be there salivating.
So anyways, I'll just dump in some pics from yesterday night.
Nice eh....
